British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a TOXICOLOGY DATABASE & CHANGE SUPPORT – FIXED TERM in Southampton

What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?   

This fixed term role is primarily focused on supporting the development, change management and training for a bespoke IT system (3DX) that enables Scientific & Regulatory Affairs business activities, for Toxicology and Product compliance subfunctions. 

Once established, the job holder will be contributing as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the Toxicology related improvement pipeline, engaging with partners using the IT system to map processes and proposing changes to existing business processes. As improvements are identified for development, the job holder will support the initial testing of the IT solutions before deployment.  

The role will be responsible for ensuring that appropriate training is built for system users such as WIDs, update of associated SOPs, training updates/uplift and train the trainer sessions. The individual may also support the Change lead during the execution of the partner engagement and communications activities for 3DX. 

What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?  

In this role you will engage with internal and external collaborators and conduct activities necessary for ongoing testing, training and change management of a bespoke IT system (3DX) which supports Toxicology & Product Compliance, ensuring that assessments conducted meet BAT Duty of Care standards and external legal requirements.  

Testing system improvements will require planning and engagement with multiple collaborators to ensure the team resources are in place for timely execution of the test, and deployment to system. The role holder will proactively support development of training materials in relation to the roll-out of the new ways of working and system. 

The incumbent will support activities and work directed from the Toxicology Change Lead, reviewing plans and processes, and outlining any items for escalations to the 3DX core lead team. Co-ordinating and collating current & new requirements for the bespoke IT system, prioritising appropriately whilst managing collaborators expectations on complexity and delivery timings. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for ensuring Toxicology requirements across category in the Product Life Management (PLM) process are embedded within the 3DX system developments. 
  • Understanding of Toxicology and Product Compliance evaluations and processes & translating these requirements to enable IT support teams to develop appropriate solutions in the 3DX.
  • Experience in the 3DX system.
  • Out of the box thinking on how processes can be improved/enhanced to enable system simplicity while delivering process improvements in BAU activities.
  • Owner of training and supporter of communication plans for 3DX partners. 
  • Support Toxicology change lead in understanding the ‘problems’ experienced by users to facilitate escalations to senior management and impact assessments.

  • Attention to detail and handling large data sets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Visio. 
  • Experience of delivering change through organisation. 
  • Proficient in English.
  • Can do attitude. 
  • Clear communication and strong organisational skills. 
  • Strong cross-functional collaborative skills. 
  • Previous experience in project management.
  • Previous experience and education in science.
