British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Controls Manager – Data Scientist in Globe House, London – permanent role
Actively recruiting for this position in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as well.
Supports and manages the implementation of a data analytics and automation strategy for internal controls assurance and advisory work. The role covers design and implementation of data analytics to support internal control design and assurance activities for both Business as Usual (BAU) and Project or Programme related control changes.
Additionally, the role provides expertise through data analytics and automated controls
assessment to promote awareness of risk management and control practices across the
BAT Group.
Strategic scope: Tactical Implementation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Data Analytics & Automation
- Supports and manages development of the internal controls related data analytics strategy and automated controls assessment approach.
- Lead, conceptualise and manage delivery of data analytics and automation solutions across the core BAT processes to support the BAT internal controls framework and governance reporting.
- Assess internal controls against industry best practice with the use of data analytics and automation for efficient and effective controls, governance processes, technology and communication.
- Leads the analysis of datasets and provide multi-dimensional views of data to support the testing and associated reporting of controls, as detailed in the internal control monitoring plan (including SOx testing).
- Undertake incident reviews and analysis through use of data analytics, including root cause analysis and adequacy of actions to address identified weaknesses.
- Ensures the use of data analytics and its underlying data repositories are managed in line with external Auditing Standards to enable reliance from Internal and External Audit.
Business Partnering
- Build and maintain good working relationships with management (e.g. D&A team, D&A platform teams), including regular progress meetings with key stakeholders and ensuring any problems or requests are dealt with promptly.
People Management
- Line management responsibility for Business Controls Manager and Project Team management responsibility for individual assignments, including:
a. Setting clear, measurable objectives.
b. Effective delegation.
c. Providing on the job coaching and guidance.
d. timely, clear and balanced feedback on their performance and development needs.
- Coordinate or participate in the delivery of training to Business Controls staff on data analysis and automated controls assessment to support the global delivery of the BCT workplan.
What are we looking for?
- Degree educated with relevant professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CISA, relevant data analytics certifications).
- 5+ years PQE in data analytics and automation, prefer with experience in the area of risk and controls with significant accounting firm or a global FMCG or similar dynamic operating corporate environment.
- Experience with data management concepts and tools, e.g. data mining and/or process mining, including working with large datasets and automation of controls.
- SAP GRC Access Control and Process Control knowledge specially on reports, configuration, and table structures/relationship. This is to support internal reporting.
- SAP ERP automated controls experience preferred:
> Experience in reviewing functional SAP components (FI/CO/MM/SD/FSCM), focusing on either the configuration or understanding of table structures and data model relationships.
> Hands on SAP application reporting and query experience in order to extract internal controls relevant data and information.
- Experience of one or more of BAT’s core business functions, including operations, marketing, finance, and IT.
- Logical thought process with ability to convert analytics findings into non-technical business scenarios and risks for senior management through effective verbal and written communications to enable understanding of actionable insights on those risks and processes.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence key decision makers using insights from data to ensure risks and control scenarios are fully understood.
- Experience in managing diverse teams as part of both business as usual and one off project work.
