As a Junior Legal Counsel, you will be at the heart of our operations, providing essential legal advice across all departments. Your responsibilities will include inter alia the legal review of advertising activities for BAT’s innovative Potentially Reduced-Risk Products (PRRP), ensuring that our marketing strategies are both compliant and cutting-edge.

What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?

In this role, you will be the go-to person for timely and effective legal services for the Swiss and Austrian markets, ensuring our business operations adhere to regulations and corporate governance principles. Your ability to navigate complex legal landscapes with ease will be crucial in maintaining our company's integrity and success.

But that's not all! You'll have the opportunity to collaborate with diverse teams, offering pragmatic and concise legal advice to non-lawyers. Your openness to business and keen understanding of various departmental needs will make you an invaluable asset to our team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Provide Expert Legal Advice: Offer comprehensive legal guidance to all functions and deliver engaging training sessions to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations during our marketing activities.
• Draft and Review Contracts: Craft and scrutinize contracts and supporting documents, ensuring they meet the highest standards of protection for the company.
• Monitor Legislation: Keep a keen eye on the legislative environment, ensuring our company remains compliant with all relevant laws and regulations.
• Support the Legal Department: Assist with various administrative tasks, contributing to the smooth operation of our legal team.

What are we looking for?

• Recognized master’s degree: Hold a master’s degree in law and/or be qualified as a lawyer.
• Experience: Have 2+ years of experience in a private legal practice and/or in a corporate environment.
• Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a good knowledge of French and/or German being a plus.
• Initiative and Judgement: Ability to act on your own initiative, applying good judgement.
• Influencing and Problem-Solving: Strong influencing and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with peers and senior management, inspiring trust and confidence.
• Clarity in Communication: Capacity to explain highly complicated and technical legal issues in a clear and concise way.
• Business Understanding: Ability to understand the needs of the business and express them clearly, concisely, and effectively.
